Managing Monthly Budgeting

Monday, September 28th, 2009

It can be very troublesome at times with handling my household budget, but not managing it can put me in to financial debt before I realize it. The gains from looking after my budget correctly helps me save money and relieve some stress I have pertaining to my debt.

I have numerous things in life that shape me financially, but there is probably nothing that impacts my finances more than a household budget. There are not a lot of individuals these days who have learned how to budget and this can lead to many financial issues, including debt. Many of us think that creating a budget was too difficult, this is the main reason why people get in to trouble. Actually, devising a budget is not difficult at all; it can be as easy as penning down what we spend and keeping up with it every month. By practising this habit, we do not spend more than we have.

It is crucial for me to keep in mind that my budget is only my plan for my monthly spending. Just like any programme, my budget does necessitate me to manage it to keep it running correctly. First step is to organise the information that I need in it. I monitor my expenses like car loan repayments, utilities, car insurance, living expenses, etc. If I do not coordinate my budget, I can easy find myself in debt. It is very important for me to know exactly what I need on expenditures each month.

I see two advantages with keeping up with my finances through my budget. Firstly, it eliminates uncalled-for spending. And secondly, I can keep myself from going into unnecessary debt. When I spend my money wisely, I buy only things that are unavoidable and I free up money that I can use on something that I want or can save it. With the surplus money I am able to save, I have the option of putting it aside and investing.

How I Regained My Hair

Monday, August 24th, 2009

My hair loss treatment journey started the day I started to notice myself balding. I would always find ways to comb my hair in a certain way to hide my hair loss. I began wearing more hats on the weekends as I went out with my wife, friends or family. Walking in to work every morning was an unpleasant experience without my hat on. Your mind will do that to you when you are going through hair loss. It is so true that you never know what you have until you lose it. That can be accurate about your hair loss.

Having suffered from balding, I started to treasure every strand of hair that I had left. It was as if with each strand of hair I lost, so was a small percentage of my confidence gone as well. I was not alone, a friend of mine had been experiencing from the same problem as me. I noticed recently that he seemed so much more relaxed and it appears as though his hair was growing back. I didn’t wanted to bring it up but after a while I decided to ask. It was then that he recommended to me Advanced Hair Studio. With just a few visits my friend Josh had not only regrown his hair, but his confidence as well. After seeing what Josh has achieved from Advanced Hair, I made up my mind to pay them a visit.

I have to admit that I was a little cynical at first. But outcomes were apparent within a few weeks. Not only on my scalp, but in my behaviour. I started to lose the caps on the weekends and I quickly began to feel better about myself. My wife who has been unhappy about my lack of interest in our relationship began to notice the change in that department as well. It is amazing how just a few trips to the Advanced Hair Studio had begun to change my life as a whole. I always felt as if the first thing people noticed about me was my bald spot. Now, I am not terrified to look people in the eyes again as I have my full set of hair back.

Advance Hair Studio has not only given me back a full set of hair, but a big part of my confidence as well. So, if anyone is experiencing hair loss I highly recommend them. Don’t let your confidence continue to be lost with your hair.

Reclaiming Forgone Feminine Mystique by Wearing Lace Front Wigs

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Our group of friends never imagined the indestructible Chandra Upton, my high school BFF, might someday cover her head with lace front wigs. Her signature long black hair was synonymous with her femininity. Guess what? She is still celebrated for her trademark toss ‘n turn. Very few think to notice that she confidently masks her medical hair loss under lace wigs. They look that good.

When we were young girls in high school, we used to knocked ‘em dead. But in college her medical hair loss took effect and she went bald. I recommended a few human hair wigs. Oh well, it didn’t matter much. Undeterred by her hair loss, she somewhat obnoxiously showcased her shaved head.

At her fiance’s golf competition, we ate nuts until a numbskull accidentally threw the ball (or whichever thing that is) towards the fans. Quick on her feet, she tried to get it when her bandana flew right off, uncovering her naked head. Undisturbed, she hurled the thing with a tremendous heave into the goal. Attitude, did I mention she’s got it?

However, nobody is perfect. Once she invited me over for a game of bridge, where she sat me down and told me that she would rather make do with a shorn head out of anger. She loved her old hair so much she can’t even think about beautiful wigs, even if she would wear them. And who would have thought our fearless protagonist grew embarrassed and demanded that I it was silly. I had to oblige.

I wanted to help so bad. Later on, I IM’d with her about going shopping with me for a new lace front wig. After a long deliberation the two of us ended up with an agreement: we’ll think of wigs as fashion, and we love fashion. We have a knack for making online wig shopping fun.

We had a great time, floored by the possibilities. She couldn’t believe that human hair wigs were so natural for so many women. These lace front wigs complimented her natural beauty. As for me, coordinated a delightfully new ensemble to wear with my wig. Out of solidarity, if you haven’t heard. Last Christmas she gave me a photo of us in our wigs and thanked me for invisible lace front wig, and said it encourages new vibrance in her life. It’s encouraging to watch her float about as light as a feather. We both are.

Having Fun with Life

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

It was just a few degrees shy of swimming weather a few weeks ago at the beach. I walked along the shore in my jeans and a red tankini top, the salt air refreshing against my skin but not quite cold. My two sisters and some friends and I were taking a brief hike down the beach. Up ahead, a small freshwater creek came out of the pine forest along the beach and cut across our path. The water of the creek was a ribbon of earthy red crossing the white sandy beach. As we approached, I said to my sister Audra, “let’s jump it!” It was a shallow creek, and only about seven feet wide, easily fordable. But something within me wanted to run, to leap, to risk splashing down in the cold water. Carefully wading across just wasn’t going to do it for me. I wanted to jump the creek – for no reason other than the fun of it.

My sister enthusiastically agreed, so we got a running start and began to run willy-nilly down the beach, our feet pounding down into the soft, powdery sand. The narrow creek approached rapidly, the wind in my face urging me along, my hair flying about, and when we reached the sandy edges leading down into the creek, we hurdled through the air as if jumping the Grand Canyon. I landed just short of the other side, sending diamond drops of water spraying all around me and soaking the cuff of my jeans. My sister landed right beside me and we laughed like children. It was fun. I felt happy and alive.

The 14th Dalai Lama said, “The purpose of our lives is to be happy.” Indeed. This purpose I gladly share with all fellow humans. As you go about your day, do you find yourself caught up in happiness, laughter and fun? As children, everything we did was for fun. That was the purpose behind every action. That was the part of me that had to leap across the creek. As you complete your daily duties – going to work, doing the laundry, checking your email, whatever your daily habits may be – is fun your purpose? Is happiness your objective?

When you were younger, the pursuit of fun and happiness came naturally. You didn’t have to put a lot of effort into looking for it. If your mother had asked you, “So dear, are you going to try to have fun today?” you would have looked at her like she was crazy. Fun is a child’s obvious objective. If they want to build a castle, they have fun doing it. If they want to plant some flowers, they have a blast in the process. Mud pies – fun. Washing the dog – fun. At some point our priorities change. Our purpose and objective often becomes money and work. The obvious and natural engagement in fun activities falls to the wayside.

When I’m taking myself too seriously, writing at the computer or something, my son always reminds me of my priorities. He’ll come up to me and say, “Let’s play tigers!” and we’ll wrestle on the floor, growling and meowing. Or he’ll run up to me and say, “Look, a rainbow!” and point to the refracted light coming from the sunlight shining through some glass. Being an adult doesn’t mean abandoning the quest for fun. If life is not meant for fun and happiness, what is it meant for?

Think about the things you might have done as a child. Did you climb trees, ride bicycles, eat ice cream and (purposefully of course) get it all over your face? Did you run uphill and pick flowers and play in the hose because you wanted any excuse to get muddy and wet? What do you do now for fun? As an adult you have more freedom, not less, than as a child. You’ve got a car and money and no curfew or confined play areas. Your play should be increased, not decreased!

I’m not suggesting that you quit your job and play in the sandbox all day. What I am suggesting is that you quit working and start playing. Children find the fun in almost anything. It’s all a state of mind. You can choose to view life as fun, or you can choose not to. Have fun at your job, have fun completing tasks, have fun brushing your teeth, have fun eating. Do also increase the purposeful acts of fun in your life. Go on a spontaneous lunch picnic. Go for a hike in the woods. Take a road trip to the country for a couple hours. Drive down to the beach. And be spontaneous and adventurous. When something silly strikes you, go for it! What’s the worst that could happen?

Have fun with your life. Break up your daily routine with intentional acts of fun. Laugh really loud. Take a leap!
